What happens next?

The next steps after you have submitted your application form are outlined below.

A) If form is sent in via post or arrangements are not pre-booked you will be invited down to the club to meet an instructor and taken through:

  • the basic paperwork
  • safety in the clubroom
  • range procedures
  • firearms operation
  • safety and basic shooting technique

The date of the visit will be about 1 week after receiving your form. It will include a visit to the range with live ammunition. Allow about 2.5/3 hours for this visit.

B) If bringing the form in and the visit has been pre-booked then at this visit you will be taken through:

  • the basic paperwork
  • safety in the clubroom
  • range procedures
  • firearms operation
  • safety and basic shooting technique

At this visit you will be booked in for a week later where you will be able to go onto the range with live ammunition. This will happen after basic checks have been made with the police.

When the instructor is satisfied that you are competent with the operation of the firearm, range safety and operational procedures, you will be “passed off” to shoot under the control of a full member at any time the club is open.
